Quinoa

via Health

I'm a fan. Since the first bite. Quinoa has been eaten for 5000 years, but only recently it has become more popular. And it's not a surprise, because these seeds are gluten-free, have high protein, iron and calcium content -among other things- and have very low fat. I've been using it mostly as a side dish, instead of rice for example, but it's so versatile that you can also added to vegetables in salads, or stewed with some kind of meat.
Cooking it is very simple, as shown by Sarah from My New Roots in the lovely video below.

Soy fan.
  • Enjuagar
  • Colar
  • Llevar a hervor
  • Bajar el fuego al mínimo
  • Dejar cocinar durante 15-20 minutos, y listo!

Have you ever tried it? How do you prepare it? I'd love to know!

Alguna vez la probaron? Cómo la preparan? Me encantaría saber!

La petite robe

It seems like even before the start of summer, the heat doesn't give us a break in this part of the Southern Hemisphere. Deciding what to wear every morning in order to stay fresh throughout the day is getting harder and harder. That's why I decided that I'm going to incorporate some day dresses to my wardrobe this season. My requirements: to be light, fun and work appropriate.

Here are a few favorites:

Music Friday

Looking for Esperanza Spalding, I found this gem by two great composers of Argentinean folk, creators of so much goodness: Manuel J. Castilla y Gustavo Leguizamon. A pleasant surprise that makes me proud of this genre, mostly unknown abroad (perhaps overshadowed by tango) and that's very special to me, because a grew up enjoying it. Alone with her bass, Esperanza shows us how sweet this zamba is.

Instagram

A few months ago, Nico gave me a smartphone as gift for my graduation, birthday and our anniversary. The main reason why I dreamed with having one was because I wanted to have Instagram. In fact, I think it was the first app I ever downloaded to the new phone.
I think the beauty in this app resides, not only in the possibility of taking photos, running filters and sharing them, but also in seeing how even the most common things of everyday life get a new perspective depending in how you photograph them.
This is my profile, in case you want to see more photos or follow me.
In the mean time, here are some of my favorites:

Cordoba

Last March we went on our first 2012 vacation. We decided to go to the Calamuchita region in Cordoba province. Nico had been to the Traslasierra area with some friends a few years ago, and I just knew the capital city.
We went by car and stayed in Villa General Belgrano, because it's close enough to the places we wanted to visit, and seemed like a pretty charming village.
We loved all the places we saw: the forests, the rivers, the hills. We concluded, as usual, that the beauty of nature never ceases to amaze us.

Buenos Aires is a roller coaster

I saw this video in this blog and it blew my mind. I don't know how they did it, but it's pretty awesome.
Buenos Aires is a roller coaster, and that's exactly what I felt the first time I was on my own in this great city.

Traveling around the internet I found this two dream places. As I couldn't decide whether I wanted to go skiing or to the beach, I share both of them with you. Which one do you like the most? I still can't decide...

This cabin in San Lorenzo di Sebato, Italy, can host up to 10 people, and it even includes a wine cellar and its own sommelier!

The coziness of the decor, the garden the views, I'm sure you get there and never want to leave.

Another beautiful little house, this time in Santorini, Greece. With its typical Greek style, it had me at the blue doors. And in the kitchen, a blue niche for the sink!

Flower Power

I love flowers. Every once in a while I stop at the flower stand on my way back from work and buy a bunch to liven up the apt. I feel like it adds an instant punch of life, color and fragrance. A couple days ago I got this goop newsletter and I loved it.  I like to put the flowers in whatever I have in hand: mason jars in different shapes and sizes, little glass bottles, glasses. I think that's a way to highlight the beauty of the bouquet. In the end, less is more, right? Here are a few nice ideas I found around the web. xo!

Besos!

Jericoacoara

Last October we went to Brazil. We started  planning our vacation with two simple premises in mind: to relax in a beautiful place. There are lots of beautiful places in Argentina where you can relax, but we wanted to go a bit further and make our first trip ever to Brazil. The most difficult decision to make was where to go, so I just typed "Brazil's most beautiful beach" in Google (true story), and we got a recurrent result: Jericoacoara. The photos we saw on the internet convinced us that it was the place we were looking for. So, we went along with planning our trip to Jericoacoara, a small fishers' village in the North East of Brazil. After two flights, a one day stay in Fortaleza, 5 hours on a bus and one hour on a jardineira, we finally saw white sand dunes and turquoise waters. We spent our week eating great seafood -and drinking caipirinhas, of course!-, meeting great people, riding buggies through the dunes and swimming in beautiful lagoons. Jeri is definitely the place to go if you love adventurous but laid back trips. Staying less than three days would not be enough.
Oh! you can get more info about Jeri here

Around the World

I just stumbled upon the title sequence for the movie Around the World in 80 days (1956) on TV. I didn't have a chance to watch the actual movie, but I was hooked by the beauty of its ending credits. It's so clever and well designed, that even the music changes every time the characters move to a different country.
Now I can't wait to watch the whole movie.

Tents and forts and nooks

I have some issues when sleeping. Actually is just a matter of layout. I need to be as far as possible from the bedroom door, and as close as possible to a wall. I assume that it has to do with the bedroom I shared with my sisters growing up. My bed was facing the door, and I could see the shadows of people (sisters, Mom) coming through the door when the light was off, and it scared me a little. So I would face the wall and sometimes sneak my face in the tiny space between the bed and the wall. Pretty crazy, I know. The thing is that I’ve always dreamed of sleeping in indoor tents and forts and nooks, anything that could 'protect' me. Here are a few lovely ones I found around the web:
………………………………………………………………..

On Rainy days...

It was supposed to rain today, but it still hasn't. I really love rainy days, for me they mean like a massive cleansing of all the bad things in the world. The sound of it, its smell, to see the drops falling from the sky, it all seems so pure to me. Here are some nice pics of rain and the song I automatically start singing in my head  whenever it starts raining.
........................................................

SJP for Vogue

Sarah Jessica Parker just made an editorial for Vogue -shot by Mario Testino- , showing what it is like "to be her", with her husband and kids. I totally loved the first picture, but then it disappointed me a little how hard she poses for the pics. Her children look gorgeous, super natural, but it seems to me like she was Photoshopped into the scene.

The End of an Era

Yeah, I know Tom has become a little creepy lately, but I always loved his excitement when singing this...

Today I had my last class at college. I still have two (or may be three, I don't know yet) final exams until I get my degree. But it feels OH SO GOOD not to attend class anymore. Can you believe that I had to compulsory attend class for the last 22 years of my life?? (I'm 27 right now, you do the math). It's just crazy, I've spent almost all my life going to class, doing homework, assignments and having exams! Unbelievable. The best thing is that what I remember the most about my early childhood -when I was about three or four years old- is asking my Mom in the morning, when she came into my room to wake me up: "Is it sunny?", because if it did, it meant I could have a great time playing outside. And then, asking her if I could wear a flowered blouse. How I loved Spring!
And then, the last two years, I realized that what I was studying wasn't really for me. And I had my Mom telling me: "You're so close, just finish it and then you can do whatever you want!", and my boyfriend telling me in the other side: "You can quit now and start doing what you like right away, why would you keep suffering?". And you know what? I always thought they were both right. And it made the last two years so much harder for me. I decided to follow my Mom's advice, but always thinking about what Nico said.
So, today, a huge part of my torture ended (I still have those exams to pass), and I decided to have a fresh start. I want to post more often, i want to start yoga classes, buy a new camera and start a photography course (Ok, may be next year), and go on a great vacation in October. Now life seems exciting even with those little things.
I'll keep you posted, I promise. Besos!
